13th Nov. 1935. A clear, very dry, cold day, sunny, with cold gentle W. wind, after a frosty night & sudden drop in temperature on previous day.

Worked E side of lower reservoir, but in spite of beating & sweeping saw no Hymenoptera. [Should have tried W. side! A.W.S. 1936.]

17th Nov. 1935. A fine sunny morning after 4 fine days & 3 consecutive frosty nights; but afternoon spoiled by a cold & damp fog.

Few insects about except gnats: 10 hymenoptera taken with sucker.
[[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] very active here [& also at ivy at Templeogue!]
[[underlined]] Stenomacrus ventralis [[/underlined]] 3 [[2 female symbols]] (only one kept: a very dark specimen).
[[underlined]] Orthocentrus [[/underlined]] n sp.? 1 [[male symbol]]: see opp page for [[female symbol]] [[arrow pointing right]]
[[underlined]] Plectiscus [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]]
[[underlined]] Pezomachus [[/underlined]] red. 1 [[female symbol]] running on bramble in sun.
[[underlined]] Apanteles [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] of the [[underlined]] fulvipes [[/underlined]] group!

Chalcids: - large 1; small 2
Cynipids, with folded wings, frequent under laurel leaves: 1 kept.

24th November 1935. A most perfect day after a keen frosty night: hardly a breath of wind & very hot sun.
Rode to Blessington, then up Liffey to Ballyward Bridge & via Kilbride & Brittas, back to Slade of Saggart, [[underlined]] without having dismounted from cycle! [[/underlined]] Left home 10-20 AM & reached the Slade at 1.0 P.M.
Slade of Saggart, Co. DU. 1.0 till 3.30 PM.

[[underlined]] Hemiteles [[/underlined]] 2 small testaceous [[2 female symbols]]. [[underlined]] Stilpnus gagates [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] ?
[[underlined]] Pimpla depositor [[/underlined]] ? 1 [[female symbol]] (this = my old idea of inquisitor!) [[insertion]] Not with the rest when labelled on 10/12/36. AWS [[/insertion]]
[[underlined]] Stenomacrus ventralis [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] frequent (1 kept) but no [[female symbol]] taken.
[[underlined]] Orthocentrus [[/underlined]] sp. n. 1 [[female symbol]] (?) with yellow marked face & very transverse head: ? the other sex of the [[male symbol]] taken on 17.11.35. Will not run down in Schmiedeknecht's table! AWS 10/12/36.
