Except [[underlined]] Vespa vulgaris [[/underlined]] [[2 virgin female symbols]] no hymenoptera seen after 24th Nov. though I went again to Slade of Saggart on several occasions. Weather very wet for 1st half of December, but wasps seen at ivy until 15th, when on that day, my fifty-second birthday, I saw several & took one [[virgin female symbol]] at ivy on wall, where the river road runs along the Liffey just below Luttrellstown gate lodge, between Knockmaroon & Lucan, Co. DU.
Following this & for a week before Xmas there was a terrific frost, the canals & even the edge of the sea being frozen even for several days, but mild again by Xmas day & wet till end of month.

All insects swept at S.E. corner of lower reservoir & below the dam, about marsh or under trees at foot of scrub: Many Braconids given me by J.F.P. & these all labelled with his initials, & in return gave him most of the Ichneumon I took: -
