[[underlined]] V. vulgaris [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] in hotel at Kilkenny.
[Bees: same species as commonly seen on previous day]
Campoplegids [[2 male symbols]] swept

3.5.36. P.M. 3.0 till 7.0 PM.
Rode via "[[Size's?]] Lough" to the "Glens of Ballyfile" (=Ballyfoyle of Ord. Map) by curcuitous routes; turned for home near the Cave of Dunmore. All Co. KK. Wind too strong & cold to collect.

Nothing collected & only a few common bees seen.

Monday 4th May 1936. Sunny, but wind strong & cold.
A.M. 10.30 till 1.30. Ry., fields & quarry, S. of Kilkenny, as on 30th April, Co. KK.
[Bees same spp. as seen on 1st]
[[underlined]] Vespa germanica [[/underlined]] several [[2 female symbols]] seen in open fields.
[[underlined]] V. vulgaris [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]].
[[underlined]] Sphecodes affinis [[/underlined]] ? 1 [[female symbol]] seen: only one seen on trip!
[[underlined]] Andrena jacobi [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]], the first seen 1936, at about 1 P.M.

[[underlined]] Dolerus aeneus [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] nigratus [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] & [[2 female symbols]], rare.

Ctypdis. 3 nice red [[2 male symbols]], with punctured [[basal?]] segements of abd.
Also 1 nice dull ([matt?]]!) black [[male symbol]], carded.

Sigalphus [[?]] sp. 2 [[2 male symbols]] swept at hedge in field: no doubt common.

[[/insertion]] A fine black-legged [[male symbol]], swept off patch of [[underlined]] Bellis perennis [[/underlined]] flowers & grass, by accident, when catching an [[underlined]] Halictus [[/underlined]]: no more taken though similar places swept round about: taken in quarry W. of railway, by stream, just N. of ry. junction.
[[underlined]] D. areolaris [[/underlined]] ? [[insertion]] Nixon agrees 1937, though very like [[underlined]] maculipes [[/underlined]] Thom. superficially [[/insertion]] 1 [[male symbol]] swept on edge of field: var. with dark legs.
