4th November 1936.  A dreadful afternoon, with torrents of rain (SW-W) & falling temperature, after a beautiful morning & 2 fine days.

Glenasmole, Co. DU.  3.0 p.m.
A few instects swept under trees near hut on W. side of lower reservoir, before the real rain came on & ruined everything.  Had it not rained hymenoptera would evidently have been abundant.

[[underlined]] Pezomachus rufulus [[/underlined]] ? 6 [[female symbol]] [[female symbol]] in 2 sweeps:  one kept, rest passed on to J.F. Perkins.

18th Nov. 1936.  A very fine, calm, mild day, after a clear frosty night & a fortnight, very wet weather - the first day I could have collected anything since 4th.

Everything soaking & only bracken, nettles, Meadow Sweet, thistles, &c. possible to sweep;  most insects taken on bramble, with sucker, under trees where leaves were dry;  others swept.

[[underlined]] Stilpnus gagates [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]] only (sent to J.F. Perkins).
