1937.

Very dry & mild from Christmas till into the New Year. One Snowdrop (planted in autumn 1936!) out in front garden on 26th Dec. but old plants backward. Mild, wet & stormy weather soon returned & it was not until 6th that I got out to collect. George returned to London on 2nd Jan. after his fortnight's holiday.

6th Jan. 1937. Slade of Saggart, Co. Du.
Went by bus, with Fergus Allen, in afternoon. 2.30 - 4.30 P.M.

[[underlined]] Stenomacrus ventralis [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] [[male symbol]] & [[female symbol]] [[female symbol]] in about equal numbers seen (only one of each was kept & mtd.)
Chalcid 1
No other Hymenoptera seen.

10th Jan. 1937. A most glorious sunny day till 4 PM. Rode to Glenasmole, arriving about 11.30 & staying till 2.30 PM. Elder leaves already out, larch & earliest willow buds obviously revelling in [[?combe]] E. of lower reservoir, & quite a good growth of green under trees since the leaves fell.
