113.) 13th May 1937, evening. Garden, 14 Clareville Rd., Harold's Cross, DU. Phaeogenid ? 1 black [[male symbol]], with abd. sculptured almost like a [[underlined]] Pimpla. [[/underlined]] [[underlined]] Omorga or Angitia [[/underlined]] ? 1 [[female symbol]]. 14th May 1937 (Friday!) A perfect day, the second in succession, after a cold dull or wet week. Almost all many, except in morning when a few clouds hung over Ballyhubbock & a rather strong N.W. wind blew along the river. Drove to Ballyhubbock Bridge on R. Slaney & after lunch back to Raheen on Dunlavis-Baltinglass road. Aculeates very abundant on all banks, &c., i.e. [[underlined]] Andrena [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] Halictus, Spherodes & Nomada, [[/underlined]] but no great variety; Bumbles very scarce; sawflies rarely seen; icks not numerous; [[underlined]] Dacnusa [[/underlined]] very common & a good many other Braconids also; a few Proctotypids [[end page]] [[start page]] 114) 14/5/37 cont. Marshes & banks below Ballhubbock Bridge & on both sides of R. Slaney, Co. WI. 11.30-2.0 PM. [[underlined]] Bombus derhamellus [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] on [[underlined]] Vicia sepium. [[/underlined]] [[underlined]] B. agrorum [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] with last. [[underlined]] B. muscorum [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] seen. [[underlined]] B. hortorum [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] on [[underlined]] Pedicularis [[/underlined]] flowers. [No [[underlined]] B. lucorum [[/underlined]] seen at all; though a few [[underlined]] Bombi [[/underlined]] heard & not identified]. [[underlined]] Andrena sericea [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] [[male symbol]] in dozens & some fresh [[female symbol]] [[female symbol]] on both sides of river, in sandy alluvial bank. [[underlined]] A. jacobi [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]], I think this sp. seen. [[underlined]] Halictus rubicundus, calceatus, tumulorum, leucopus [[/underlined]] and probably [[underlined]] albipes & pygmaeous [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] [[female symbol]] seen. [[underlined]] Sphecodes monilicornis [[/underlined]] 1 large [[female symbol]] taken & others seen at sandy banks. [[underlined]] S. hyalinatus [[/underlined]] [[checkmark]] several [[female symbol]] [[female symbol]] at bank by river. [[underlined]] Nomada [[/underlined]] very common: most looked like [[underlined]] N. bifida [[/underlined]] but none examined or taken. (No [[underlined]] [[?Solius]] fuscus [[/underlined]] seen, but M.D.S. reported a "black [[underlined]] Pompilus [[/underlined]] with white spot": probably an [[underlined]] Ichneumon.
