25th May 1937.  After a misty morning, very bright, with intense sun all day, but very strong S-SW. wind, blowing [[strikethrough]] right [[/strikethrough]] down the glen, though leaving a good deal of shelter on W side.

[[underlined]] Glenasmole, Co. DU. [[/underlined]] with Charles Oldham, his wife & sister.
Almost all insects swept under trees on W side of lower dam, or by the path & river between Moore's & the upper dam;  a few swept by W. side of upper dam under trees;  & a very few sawflies & ichneumons taken by the Slade Brook at 1,000 fett, where there would have been many insects out only for the dreadful wind.

[[underlined]] Bombus derhamallus [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] by upper reservoir
[[underlined]] B. agrorum [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] B. lucorum [[/underlined]] 1 or 2 only seen: [[female symbol]] [[female symbol]].
[[underlined]] Vespa norvegica [[/underlined]] ? (a nice small nest, presumably of this sp. on branch of larch by upper dam.
A few other aculeatus seen, but of no consequence.
[[underlined]] Sawflies [[/underlined]]: 3 or 4 taken at Salix by Slade Brook.
[[underlined]] Empria immersa [[/underlined]] 1 [[male symbol]]
E. sp. black 2 [[male symbol]] [[male symbol]]
