A perfect day! In aft. drove Dr. & Mrs. Owen, of Liverpool Museum, to Ballynascorney Gap & walked up Slievenabawnoge Co. DU. Swept a few insects near head of overflow channel, behind Slievenabawnoge, & also a few at head of stream (near cross) flowing into Bohernabreena valley. All taken at 900 to 1150 ft. [[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] 2 [[female symbol]] [[female symbol]] seen at 1100 feet. [[underlined]] Dolerus bimaculatus [[/underlined]] 1 large, dark, [[male symbol]] swept in marsh at Ballynascorney Gap: probably my highest record for this sp. [[male symbol]] with dark legs, but no sternauli [[underlined]] D. maculipes [[/underlined]] ? [[female symbol]] with faint sternauli; legs like last. D. pubescens ? 1 [[female symbol]], with faint sternauli. 30th May 1937. A very fine day, but too sunny & too breezy (W) for small insects: with [[underlined]] J.A.J. Palmer [[/underlined]] [[underlined]] The Murrough, [[/underlined]] Co. WI., just S. of Newcastle station. Almost all insects swept amongst the "feb cars", [[underlined]] Salix, Betula [[/underlined]], &c., 1/4 mile inland of the railway & 1/2 mile S. of road to station. [[underlined]] Sphex lutaria [[/underlined]] 2 [[male symbol]] [[male symbol]] only seen by Palmer.
