20/ 19th July 1937. A very fine sunny day, but S. wind rather strong & when sun obscured by clouds rather chilly. Spent morning in dunes N. of road to Strand Hotel Curracloe; in afternoon drove to Carnsore Point & did some sweeping in lane leading to coast about 1 mile N. of the point & in which Asplenium lanceolatum grows (See note by A. W. S. in 1. Nat. 1922 or 1923 (?)) & along sheltered bit of coast between that & the point. South coast west of the point too wind-swept & produced nothing. Tried seaweed in several places, one single Alysiid found by George, many Platymyschia dilatatus & little Cynipid ( ) but no other Braconids seen. Sandhills N. of Strand Hotel road, Curracloe, Co. WX. 11 till 1:30 AM. Bombus lucorum only seen Megachile maritima [[male symbol, male symbol]] abundant : 1 [[male symbol]] kept. Ormia aurulenta 1 worn [[female symbol]], caught in spiders web, alive. Colletes picistigma & no doubt after C. montana also. Hylaeus minutus [[male symbol]] & [[female symbol]]. Pompilus pectinipes 1 [[female symbol]], very fresh. 21/ 19.7.37 cont. Curracloe, WX, cont. Pompilus gibbus & plumbeus & 1 [[female symbol]] pectinipes (see p. 20). Sphex lutaria [[female symbol, female symbol]] - 1 [[female symbol]] kept, seen in several places. Tachysphex pectinipes Chelogynus 1 [[female symbol]] - sent to B.M. & wingless Chalcid very similar in appearance : the latter has curious wing-like, upright, projections at base of abdomen. Most icks sent to B.M. The following only kept:- Hemiteles 1 [[male symbol]], with rough sculptured abd. like a Pimpla = Bracon variator 1 [[female symbol]]. B. anthracinus ? 1 [[female symbol]]. B. [[strikethrough]] cf. longicauda Thoms. ? [[/strikethrough]] 1 [[female symbol]] near last, with long palps, shorter terebra, clearer wings Coelinius viduus 1 [[male symbol]] & 1 [[female symbol]] mtd. on same card. Aphidius ulmi ?? 1 [[male symbol]], 1 [[female symbol]]: don't quite fit Marshall's description in colour, but agree fairly well. Chalcid (see above!)
