9th Oct 1937.
A perfect day after 11 AM., all sunny after 12.30 warm, gentle E. wind; after a dewy night & misty morning.

In forenoon drove through Kinlough along road S. of L. Melvin & left car below "Aghadunvane," climbed up to main slips on N. face of "Hill 1720", [[marginalia]] marked "Dartry" on 6" Ord. map. [[/marginalia]] which Miss Eccles calls "The Glenanns", where many nice "alpine" (Sedum Rhodiola, Sanifraga hynoides (large leaved var.). S. aizoides (still in flower), S. oppositfolia, & a curious willow (= phyllicifolia - fide D. Meikel) 2 ft. high), & Salix repens, &c. &c. [[insert]] This willow grows in my garden, 1963, is the Type of Salix hibernica Rech. which specimen is in Vienna (Nat. Mus.) A.W.S. 1964. [[/insert]]

Asplenium virida very common. Here took only one hymenopteron (= Conostigmus ? not seen when labelling 18/10/39 AWS.)

After lunch spent 20 minutes sweeping in hayfield in front of the Lodge, Tullaghan & later spent 1 1/2 hours on shore just E. of Bundrowse, Co. ED, where found nothing under sea-week, but very many common species at thistle (C. arvensis).

R.C. Faris & Miss J.M. Cole of Caran joined the party this afternoon for a week.
