10th-20th April.

Owing to break down of car I was not out in the field between these dates, during which time bright cold sunny days alternated with clear frosty nights. In garden on 20th April I saw a perfectly fresh [[female symbol]] Andrena nigroaenea & a rather faded [[female symbol]] Bombus jonellus on Black Currant flowers. Gave the frog a bath. Hawthorn tree now about 7 years old flowered for the first time, very sparingly. Large White Buggerfly [[male symbol]] in garden on 20th.
