18.6.38.  First Chrysis ignita (very small! [[male symbol]] ?) seen at bored post in garden, Harold's Cross, Dublin at 5.30 P.M.

Fresh [[female symbol]] Bombus lucoum came into my room in Museum! to "hibernate" as on all previous years!


19th June 1938.  Very windy day (W) with rising glass after a depression;  but mild & many insects out in shelter.

Drove (10.30 AM) to Blessington & collected for 1 1/2 hours in swampy field sheltered by trees just above Blessington Bridge (over Liffey) & below the Blessington-Ballyward road;  then drove on to Kippure Lodge, via Kilbride, & collected in birth scrub for rest of the day.  No rain after early morning shower & one at 11 AM.
