11th July 1938. After a wet night a drizzle lasted intermittantly till lunch, then suddenly fine when wind went from SW to NW & a glorious afternoon with much hot sun, though breeze rather strong for insects.

In morning spent two "wet" hours in wood S.E. of Garelochhead, as before, & picked up a few odd insects, mainly with sucker as too wet to sweep. In afternoon worked N. along edge of golf links & railway to the big glen (at least 100 ft. deep) crossed by railway viaduct on way to Whistlefield. Some Aculeates taken about station on way out, but most others taken in glen just N of station or in the big glen.

One clegg seen in big glen: the first seen in Scotland this trip though many out a fortnight earlier in Dublin district.
