17th July 1938. A poor day, with rain blowing in the wind (S.W.) all day & sometimes amounting to a drizzle, while at others a hot sun penetrated the mist. Not much out except common species.

Drove to Russellstown House (S. of Blessington) & stopped for lunch on road leading to Baltyboys Bridge & collected in shelter-belt for half-an-hour; then across R. Liffey to Rathbally House, where took three insects only & flies were very bad in "lane"; then over Humphreystown bridge & up Kings River valley to Lockstown Bridge & up old road S. of river for about a mile, where collected for 2 hours around deserted "ox-bow" of river. Then home via Hollywood & Poulaphuca.
