No rain, however, till 5.30 P.M. on The Murrough, then a terrific rain-storm when wind shifted from NW to ENE. During midday much sun at times & pleasant, but wet vegetation & cool NW-N. wind made collecting poor & insects very scarce compared with previous Sunday. As on 21st drove to Killoughter (with A.M. Gwynn) & collected along edge of marsh, inside railway, for a mile N. of road (= 1); then for an hour inside marsh where 1st "lane" comes down to coast through fields (= 2); in afternoon went to the Broad Lough, but very high tide almost prevented collecting & very few insects swept in salt-marsh just above water level. 11.30 AM. till 3.30 P.M. Edge of Marsh inside railway & outside marsh for 1 mile N. of Killoughter = 1 & fields, &c., inside marsh = 2. 1 mile N. of Killoughter, also, Co. WI.
