A dull, windy, afternoon, following cold bad weather for a week including one of the worst gales for a long time on night of 3rd & following day:  milder than of late & a very fine sunny morning till 1 P.M.

Glenasmole, Co. DU.  3.0 till 5.0 P.M. 
Swept under trees between Moores' house & the ford & along course of river to where boats are at head of lower lake, including the Iris patch & bank of river = 1;  then along W. path to upper dam & under trees just above same & on shore of upper lake just above boat house (on W. side) & also below dam under trees round old "garden" patch = 2.  Insects extraordinarily abundant considering season & weather, which shows that "you never can tell" with hymenoptera.

Bombus lucorum (? [[juvenile symbol]] or [[male symbol]]) seen by George on W. side of upper lake, on blackberry flower.
Ichneumonidae
Gen. et sp.?  1 [[male symbol]], like a Pimplid, with broad keeled basal abd. segment, but pentagonal areolet & so ? a Phaeogenid. - cf. 2 Cryptids [[male symbol, male symbol]] with keeled 1st tergite taken at "Slade Brook" on 24/9/41. AWS.

Homocidus biguttatus  1 [[male symbol]]
Stenomacrus ventralis  [[male symbol, male symbol]] & [[female symbol, female symbol]] very abundant.
St. laricis?  1 [[female symbol]], 27-seg. ant.
St. vafer?  1 [[female symbol]], 20-seg. ant.;  also 2 smaller & 2 larger [[male symbol, male symbol]], with respectively 21 & 22-seg. ant. may be this sp., but cf. similar [[male symbol, male symbol]] under pallipes.  AWS. 5/12/40.
St. confinis?  2 [[female symbol, female symbol]], 22-seg. ant.
St. sp.?  1 [[female symbol]], like a Neurateles but basal abd. seg. too stout & sculptured, antennae 21-seg.:  placed next St. pusillus!
Orthocentrus sp.  1 [[female symbol]], small but like O. radialis, with very short joints & antennae.
Mesoleius  sp.?  red 1 [[male symbol]]
M. sp.?  black 1 [[male symbol]]
