Aspilota nigrescens?  1♀ at 1 or 2, with 18-seg. ant.
Phaenocarpa galatea  1♀ swept off Salix at 3.
Dacnusa [[strikethrough]] laevipectus [[/strikethrough]]  1♀ at 2 25-seg. ant., & 1♀ at 3 24 seg. ant.
? sp. n., with dark apices to hind tibiae & many jointed antennae.  A.W.S. 20/12/40.  = D. tibialis miki!  Probably only a var. of laevipectus after all?  AWS. 21/12/40.
Platygaster  3 at 3.

Whitethroats, Cuckoos, & Horncrake (at Greenhills) heard!  No Swifts yet!

10th May 1939.  The hottest day of the year so far, with intense sun in forenoon, but dull & sultry in afternoon, with W. breeze.
Rode to Furry Glen, Phoenix Park, Co. DU.  (2.30 till 4.30 P.M.) where the Corporation are preparing to lay a pipe line up the glen, ? in connexion with Liffey water-scheme.  Swept in three places as follows:-
1 = upper part of glen, above main avenue to Knockmaroon gate & below septic tank & house.
2 = N. edge of glen on end of plateau, at spring, between S. avenue & boundary wall.
3 = streamside & swamp in bed of glen below S. avenue & between that & boundary wall, just below (E) 2.

Aculeates not looked for & no sawflies swept:  hawthorn just coming out, some trees out.  Some common icks swept but not kept!  The following however, were kept.

Pezomachus?  1 winged ♂ at 1, with curious quite "even", though matt surface to petiole = Confusus ♂ Bridg.?
Hemiteles  1 tiny ♂, hardly 2mm. long, with induced neuration at 1.
Pimpla depositor?  1♀ at 1.
Zootrephus suspiciosus?  1♂ at 3.
Campoplex  1 at 1: red sp.
Meteorus cf. atrator??  1♂ by stream at 1
Euphorus pallipes  1: not kept.
Blacus ruficornis  1♀ at 1.
Alloea contracta  ♂♂ at 1 & 2.
Aspilota nigrescens  2♂♂ at 1, & 1♂ at 3.
A. rufata?  1♂, 19-seg. ant. at 1.
A. rufata?  1♀, 17-seg. ant. at 1.
A. vulgaris?  1♂, 23-seg. ant. at 1: rather large.
Dacnusa aphanta frequent:  1♂ from 1 kept only
Ametria uliginosa  1♂, 1♀ at 1, the latter with base of 2nd seg. rugatose.
