Left Ballycastle, Co. AN., by 9.45 train & reached Dublin at 5.30 P.M.  Did not collect.  Another very hot day, but a few clouds.

A ♂ Bracon fulvipes bred from a herring gulls nest (No.179) taken at Howth, DU., by E. O'Mahony, on 2.6.39.


11th June 1939.
Garden, 14 Clareville Rd., Harold's Cross, Dublin.

A showery day, the first rain for a long time, with hot bursts of sun between.

Bombus lucorum  several ☿☿
B. hortorum  1☿ on Snapdragon.
B. jonellus  ☿ seen several times on Rosa canina & R. tomentosa flowers.
B. agrorum  1 very fresh ☿ seen.
Megachile willoughbiella  2♂♂ in holes in post.
M. centuncularis  ♂ in post.
M. versicolor v. hiberniae.  1 fress ♀ at Campanula flower (also I believe a ♂ seen on 9th)
Hylaeus [[strikethrough]] cosfusus [[/strikethrough]] communis  ♂♂ & ♀♀ in post:  1 [[male symbol]] kept.
Crabro clavipes  1 very red ♀ - this & 1♂ kept, several ♂♂ in post.
C. varius  abundant
C. leucostomus  1 seen
C. chrysostomus  2♂♂ in post-holes.
Vespa austriaca & germanica & vulgaris  ♀♀ seen:  1♀ austriaca also & this kept.
Chrysis ignita  several in post.
