& this not seen except on return journey after a shower & probably not more than 2,500 ft., but height of first seen not noted.

Polygonum viviparum seen on return journey down Glen Einich at about 1,500 ft. 

One Ptarmigan seen on summit of shoulder overlooking Loch Einich, but no other birds & no mammals seen above 2,000 ft.;  though Dotterel & Ptarmigan are said to breed commonly on the summit of Braeriach.

27th June 1939.

A pleasant day, with SW wind, strong at times, but never cold;  warm & humid in shelter, though but little sun:  a few slight skiffs of rain, but not enough to wet vegetation & sweeping possible all day.

In forenoon swept birch scrub behind the hotel golf-links (= 1) & sides of reservoir for hotel in scrub (= 2) at Aviemore.

11.30 till 12.30 "AM".

Bombus lucorum  several ♀♀ & 1☿ seen.
B. muscorum  1 fresh - No! not too fresh!!  ♀ taken & another seen by George.
Vespa austriaca  1♀.
Myrmica ruginodis, Formica fusca & F. rufa seen.
Tenthredella olivacea  1♀ at 1.
Tenthredopsis nassata  1♂ at 1.
Selandria flavens  2♂♂, one at 1 - in swamp! & one at 2.
Hemiteles  3 spp. (3♂♂) with 21, 20 & 23-seg. ant. at 1 = {
H. aperta?  1♂ at 2.
H. sp.? (or Plectiscid) - no areolet, 19 seg. ant.  1♂ at 2.
