7th July 1939.

Like the 6th, this opened with heavy & continuous rain from dawn till we arrived at Mallaig, by steamer "Loch Nevis", which left Kyle at 9.50. A fresh S.W. wind springing up the afternoon was fine & sunny, but too windy for insects, with heavy rain again later & at night. Arrived Arisaig about 12.30.

Spent a couple of hours, 4 till 6, in afternoon on sands but saw nothing but a few Bumbles & sweeping yielded almost nothing. George found a very tiny wingless Cynipid & I found on sand amongst rotting seaweed a very small ♀ Pezomachus.

Sands & coast 1 1/2 miles NW of Arisaig. 4 till 6 P.M.
