30th July 1939.

A fine day spoiled for collecting by heavy showers at noon, 1.30 & 3.0 P.M. West wind, warm & lots of insects in shelter, but vegetation dripping after first shower. Drove to Drogheda, up Boyne & home via Slane. I collected about New Bridge & King William's Glen, while George took his friend "Jock" Storrar to see Newgrange tumulus.
