274. 10.8.39 cont. Plantation, Glending, Co. WI. 8:15-8:45 PM. [Only 7 insects kept & these labelled 24.2.1942! AWS.] Bassus "tricinctus" ♂. Homocidus pallipes ♂. Stenomacrus laricis? ♂, ant. 27-seg. Picrostigeus recticauda? 1 small ♀, ant. 24-seg. Mesoleid or Euriproctid: ♀, with red spatulate abdomen = Aspilota pecticornis ♀, ant. 21-seg.: a large specimen! Procto.1. 13/8/38. Ophion ♀ taken by E. O'Mahony at Dollymount, Co. DU. 275. 13th Aug. 1939. The second day in succession without rain - a red-letter day for a long time - with much sun, very sultry, slight SW. breeze. All insects common, except Braconids, which were rare. Drove to Kilkea Park, Co. KD., & then on to canal just [[strikethrough]] W. of [[/strikethrough]] above & below Tankardstown Bridge, & home. 12 noon till 3.30 P.M. Kilkea Park, Co. KD. 1 = N. & E. sides of plantation, fort & plateau. 2 = S. side of plantation [17 insects kept from 1, 14 from 2 & 17 from one or other station but not specified. These labelled 27.2.42! AWS.] Bombus lucorum ♂♂ & ☿☿ & 1 or 2 fresh ♀♀. B. agrorum common. ♂♂ & ☿☿ B. muscorum. A freshly dry up nest seen on plateau (? by bogs) with old worn ♀ & many callow ☿☿ running about in great distress but no sign of brood or nest proper. Odd old jaded ☿☿ seen on Scabiosa, &c. B. lapidarius ♂♂ & ☿☿ frequent & 1 very fresh ♀ seen "searching"
