Beetle.  Strangalia IV-fasciata [[female symbol]] found by Daisy on beech stump at 1, laying eggs, watched at intervals for about an hour, then taken home alive with piece of beech wood;  lived in jar until 27.8.39 & seen to lay or pretend to lay eggs several times during this period but nothing ever came of these.


16.8.39, evening

Drove through Blessington & Glending to Athgarrett House, Co. KD., where George staying while working at the Liffey pipe-line near Rathmore, & collected for about an hour along disused road S. of name, from farm gate to bottom of overflow channel behind the house, until heavy dew fell about 8.30, which stopped sweeping.

D. stramineipes  2 [[male symbol, male symbol]], ant. 28-seg.

Coelinius sp.  4 [[male symbol, male symbol]], 2 [[female symbol, female symbol]], with antennae 37, 37, 39, 39, 31 & 32 respectively = apparently all C. n. sp. Sligo miki, but the first [[male symbol]] has a malformed left temple, which makes the head look less transverse than in the others.
