Thursday 2nd May 1940. 

A fine day after a misty morning, with E. breeze & much sun in afternoon.

Drove to glen W. of Deputies Pass, Co. WI, arriving at 1 P.M.  After lunch collected in valley bottom, where some nice marshy ground amongst Alder & Willows, for a couple of hours; then back to Deputy's Pass where collected for 1 1/2 hours.  Called on H.B. Preston at Greystones on way home.  Insects not very plentiful.

1 = Glen W. of Deputy's Pass. 2 till 4 P.M.
2 = Deputy's Pass : E. side, mainly in large oak-wood N. of tributary stream.  5 till 6 P.M.  All Co. WI.
Mostly put into store!

Bombus lucorum, agrorum, hortorum (1) & lapidarius ♀︎♀︎ seen.
Psithyrus distinctus  ♀︎♀︎.
Andrena albicans  ♂︎♂︎ abundant at 1.
A. praecox  ♀︎ in Salix at 1.
Halictus rubicundus  ♀︎ at 1.
Salius fuscus at 2, ♀︎.
Nomada marshamella  ♂︎♂︎ seen at 1
