12th May 1940. A fine day, dull at first but nearly all sunny after 12 noon, with cool E-NE breeze.
Drove to top of Clara wood and walked down forestry wood to Osmunda glade, then along river to Cronybyrne river and back up to car.  Insects plentiful in shelter of wood, but few near river where breeze strong.  Co. WI.
1 = Forestry wood from road to sand-flat.
2 = Osmunda-glade and sand-flat, the latter now nearly all overgrown.
3 = Cronybyrne wood, flat area along river to tributary, example, and c.
4 = Way up from river to road through Cronybyrne wood.

Bombus derhamellus  ♀ reported by George
B lucorum, hortorum (1 on bluebells) & agrorum ♀♀ seen.
B jonellus many many ♀♀, mostly at Vaccinium

Andrena jacobi  1 ♂ at 4.
A. lapponica ♀♀ at 1 and 4.
Apis mellifera frequent in upper part of wood at 4 at Vaccinium.
Vespa vulgaris & rufa ♀♀ seen. 
Nomada marshamella  ♀ at 2.
Antaeon  ♂ & ♀ at 2.

Cratichneumon annulatus (?) & C. rufifrons (?) ♂♂ common though 1 ♂ from 4 kept & mounted seems best to fit C. magus Wesm.

Hemitiled ? } Curious elongate, narrow, parallel-sided ♀ amongst Carex paniculata at 2
Hemiteles? red abd., longish terebra, ♀ at 3 =
