In the evening during some sunshine a small ☿ of Bombus muscorum was seen.
Still no sign of Crabros.

8th June 1941.  

After a sea-mist in forenoon & early morning an almost perfect day, with very hot sun, no clouds, & a gentle SE-E breeze, with glass falling all day & after heavy rain at night & on 5th & 6th inst.

Went by 11.5 bus to Portrane, in which met Father P.G. Kennedy & Peter Dunn, who were going to see Tree Sparrows, of which eight pairs were reported nesting in old castle (Stella's Tower) at Portrane, & we accompanied them to the castle & saw quite a few Tree Sparrows, with a few House Sparrows.  The former clearly spotted by their pale heads and white collar at 30 yards, without glasses.  We then walked along outer dunes to the point of the Burrows just opposite Rogerstown Pier, while I swept as I went, along most-sheltered bits (=1);  after
