21st-24th. Aug. 1941.  Garden, 14 Clareville Rd., Dublin

Swifts seen on 21st & 2 almost certainly seen at 10AM. at lower end of Westfield Rd. by  Daisy & myself, but too far away to be quite sure, on 24th.

Bombus terrestris  ♂︎♂︎, on Knapweed on 24th.
B. lucorum  ♂︎ on Knapweed on 24th.
B. hortorum  a beautiful fresh ♀︎ on Snapdragon at 8 P.M. on 23rd & a ♂︎, searching, on 24th at noon.
B. agrorum & lapidarius faded ☿☿ up till 24th.
B. muscorum  1♂︎ on lavender on 24th.
Psithyrus barbutellus on knapweed on 24th.
Halictus calceatus  ♂︎♂︎ abundant on 22nd & 24th.
H. leucopus  ♀︎ seen on 24th.
[H. smeathmanellus ♂︎♂︎ almost certainly seen on 22nd at knapweed, but not caught.]
Crabro varius.  A fresh outburst of ♂︎♂︎ on 22nd-24th, clearly a second brood, I think.
C. clavipes  ♂︎♂︎ on 24th.
C. leucostomus  ♂︎♂︎ & possibly ♀︎♀︎ on 22-24th, common!
Pemphredon lugubris?  Several I believe seen on 24th as well as one of the smaller species, but not caught & examined
Athalia.  Several ♂︎♂︎ of sp.? seen on 24th.
Stenichneumon ochropus  1♀︎ on 24th.
Odynerus parietum  1♀︎.

Cryptids.  Several ♂︎♂︎ & 1♀︎:  kept only 1 = Hemiteles ♀︎ ant. 21.
Pimpla depositor  1♀︎.
P. instigator  ♂︎ & 3♀︎♀︎, seen.
P. depositor?  2♂︎♂︎
Homocidus pictus  ♂︎♂︎ common:  2 kept & mounted in reverse
H. pulcher  ♂︎♂︎ common, & 1♀︎ √.
Stenomacrus  ♂︎ at brick:  not mounted
Mesoleius?  1♀︎, ant. 28.

Agrypon?  ♂︎♂︎ & ♀︎♀︎, frequent;  ♂︎ & 2♀︎♀︎ mounted!
Angitia rufipes?  1♂︎, examined.

Bracon nr. epitriptus  1♀︎, long terebra, 28-seg. ant., the only Braconid seen except the next sp.
Apanteles glomeratus  several on Brussels' Sprouts.
Cynipid.  The usual sp., with stalked abdomen, abundant.

No Vespa seen in garden on the morning nor for several weeks previously, though queens more numerous this spring than I remember, but 2☿☿ of V. vulgaris came through window during dinner.
Odynerus parietum  1♀︎ caught at 5.30 P.M.
Wall Butterfly  1 seen at 2 P.M.
