28th Sept. 1941.

A very fine day, nearly all sunny & sun very hot, with cool, fresh, SW. wind, after several warm damp days with low barometer. Did not go out in forenoon as heavy rain on previous day had left everything too wet. In afternoon rode to Glenasmole (where arrived about 3 P.M.) & leaving cycles at foot of lower dam crossed dam & went along top of 1st coomb, round which collected for a couple of hours. Butterflies much in evidence on scabious & the few flowers left, but hymenoptera scarce, other than Bumble Bees.
