1st till 5th Oct. 1941.

Weather not so good, cooler, with some rain. Had R.C. Faris staying for night of 1st & spent time going over sawflies, his & mine, he having had a most successful season & added quite a few to Irish List. Not out in the field during week. On duty in Museum on Sunday 5th. so rode to Phoenix Park in morning & spent 1/2 hour sunning ourselves above pond in the Furry Glen, where saw nearly a dozen Jays & many wasps (no doubt V. vulgaris).

8th Oct. 1941.
A warm soft day, misty rain at times, with some very hot sun in between skiffs, wind South or S.W. In afternoon rode to head of upper reservoir in Glenasmole, DU & went up Slade Brook to gorge at 1,000 ft. to get more sawfly larvae on Hazel & found those nearly full grown. These proved to be Hemichro crocea! Kept about a dozen of the largest & sent some to R. C. Faris to see if he can breed them, as I have had
