30th June 1942. 

A very fine day with some cloud, some very hot sun, & fresh N. breeze.

Marsh 3 miles S.W. of Dundalk on Mr. Joseph McMahon's land in townland of Newtownbabe, Ballybarrack, near Gibstown of 1." Ord. Map sheet 70, where head of Irish Giant Deer had been discovered during turf cutting.  Went by 9 AM. train & cycle, with G.F. Mitchell, who collected pollen-samples from two sections around & above the deer's head.

Also brought away some samples of marl for shells.

Bethylues fuscicornis  ♀︎ with very dark forewings
Psithyrus rupestris  ♀︎: the only "Bumble" seen.
Dolerus palustris  1♂︎. 
Pachynematus clitellatus?  ♀︎, pale var.
Cryptinids 7.
Hemitelwa or Phygadeuon.  2♂︎♂︎, 2♀︎♀︎ (4 species!)
Atractodes or Enolytus  3 (3 species)

D. humeralis sp. n.  Type!  ♂︎, ant. 35.  A.W.S. 14.10.1944.  {Shoulders with raised polished ridge at each side between parapoides (as in Acrodactyla degener!);  parapoides complete & between them a clear central groove;  mesonotum & tergite 1 practically hairless;  sternauli strongly rugose & sculpture extending onto surrounding pleura.  Placed near D. transversa miki!

A. renominatus Hincks (cirsii Hal.)?  ♀︎, ant. 17  {Antennae filiform, whereas I notice some standing under same name thicken to the apex & look like two species!  AWS 14.10.1944.
