19th August 1942. 

A windy day, with much sun in morning, but clouds, sun & some showers about in aft., though no shower fell where we were.  Wind nearly S. & very strong, warm, after a depression without rain the previous two days.

In afternoon rode to Glenasmole & collected in 4 areas by sweeping, as follows: -
1 = right bank of river between the reservoirs, between footbridge & the ford.  3.30-4.30 P.M.
2 = left bank below Moore's house, along the old swampy river channel.  4.30-5.15 P.M.
3 = under trees &c., from upper end of station 2 back to footbridge: left bank.  5.15-5-30 P.M.
4 = along edge of lower reservoir & under trees near the hut on W side of same.  5.30 till 6.0 P.M.

Sawflies 3.  Fenella nigrita (or Fenusa pumila)? 1♀︎.

Vespa austriaca  ♂︎♂︎:  one kept: one sent to K.G. Blair
Cryptinids 3 including Atractodes tenebricosus & Stilpnus gagates
Hemiteles?  1 very small ♂︎, ant. 20 =

Homocidus subopacus Stelfox.  3 small ♀︎♀︎ in type locality or very near same (other side of river!).
Stenomacrus  2♂︎♂︎ = cf. exilis, with dark legs, &c., ant. 22 (one mounted)

Colastes braconius  1♀︎.
Eubadizon extensor  1♀︎.
Opius vindex (or clarus?):  a fine ♂︎, with 35-seg. antennae.
O. cingulatus  1♂︎
O. irregularis  1♂︎.
Phaenocarpa pratellae  a reddish var. ant. 39, 1♂︎.
Adelura flaviventrus & sylvia  1♀︎, each.
Aspilota spp. 4 specimens: = A. dentifemur m.  a minute ♀︎, with large head, dimple & 16-eg. ant. &c.
A. sp. near cynipidis, but smaller, with smoother propodeum, mainly testaceous with black head, ant. 18/19, &c.
A. fuscicornis & A. clara (?)  1♂︎ of each, ant. 19 & 20, the latter with larger head, &c.
Dacnusa areolaris in hundreds.  Mostly ♀︎♀︎.
D. longiradialis  1 few.
D. melanocera  1♂︎, ant. 25.
Praon volucre?  7 or 8.  1 small ♂︎ & 1 small ♀︎ reddish on ventral surface, mounted, with ant. 21 & 19;  also a larger black ♂︎, with 23-seg. ant.
Proctos.  2 spp. only (not mounted)
