on the way up moraine & W. of stream coming out of moraine (? outlet of L. Diheen) at west side of same, crossed a small stream in gully in which grows only a fine-leaved mossy Saxifrage (? sponhomica) while in the coomb itself only the broad-leaved (Sax. hirta?) seen; the latter continues right up

cliffs & stream at west end of cliffs to the slope, above anything that could be called a cliff, & although it varies in its leaf-shape somewhat (? according to its environment) nothing like the fine-leaved form seen by us here. [but seen here in 1945, A.W.S]. After to-day's search on this bit of cliff (which alone fits Hart's record & is  much endangered from the plants point of view by slips & traffic by sheep) so feel very confident that Saussurea does not grow there now. [Hart's clump of Saussurea refound here in 1945! AWS.] As rain & storm obviously coming on in left coomb after ascending to ridge behind it about 3 P.M. & got home about 4:30 just before real rain came on.
Did not collect any insects!

28th Sept. 1943. A fine morning with strong NE. wind, after a wild night with some rain. Much hot sun after 10 AM. & quite mild though wind NE, but backing to N & then NW in afternoon and getting warmer.
In morning set insects, but about 1 P.M. went across Aherlow river near the church & collected
