27. 13th Oct. 1943 A most perfect day, with cloudless sky & very hot sun, gentle wind - NNW in forenoon, SW-W in afternoon; after a depression on 12th, with much rain during night. In afternoon rode to head of upper reservoir in Glenasmole arriving at 3.30 & swept flat ground & edge of swamp for over an hour; this flat ground now occupied by about 100 sheep & everything, even the sedges & horsetails nibbled down by the unfortunate creatures & so nice for the people who have to drink the water.
