22nd-24th Oct.
Three very fine & mild days with much hot sun, after broken weather with low glass, heavy gales from SW. & many rain-storms, but 24th (Sunday) spoiled for collecting by heavy rain all Sat. night from 8.30 PM. till daylight. On 22nd saw a fresh-looking Bombus agrorum (? ♂︎ or ☿) at Campanula flowers in front garden. Many wasps about garden including a ☿, on 24th.

29th Oct. 1943.
A mild dry & dull day, like the whole week, except 25th which was sunny.
In afternoon Daisy saw a Bombus (probably agrorum) on lavender flowers in back garden.

3rd Nov. 1943.
A lovely day, all hot sun after 10 A.M., following 3 very mild & mainly wet days, with very heavy rain during the 3 previous nights.
In afternoon rode to Phoenix Park mainly to enjoy the sun, but while sitting looking down into the lower part of the Furry Glen saw many wasps (no doubt all V. vulgaris) & one Bombus agrorum.
