butterfly flying strongly N. down the slope across a beam wind from SW-W. 

Later when having tea we both saw a Bumble Bee fly past at 2,650 ft. & heard another & a green wasp seen flying on plateau at about 2,500 ft.

26th May 1944. 

Soft & warm but no rain, with half a gale from S.W.  Really the first genial day since Easter!  Set insects in morning, but went out for half an hour sweeping in the pasture field opposite hotel & collected in lee of hedge & trees along the road to church - 1.0 till 1.30 P.M.
