30th May 1944.

Very hot & very windy, with wind probably SE., but tearing up the Glen of Aherlow from E. Did not collect all day except one ♀︎ Trioxys taken on dining room window with fingers = T.
Spent most of day setting insects & went for a short walk in cool of evening.

31st: May 1944.

Opened same as 30th with very strong hot wind & hot sun, but by 11 AM. it was obvious that a change was coming as a jam formed over Slieve-na-muck ridge & drops of rain & then a heavy splash occurred.

In afternoon much heavy thunder heard all round & some lightning Bansha way, with bursts of rain & wind & calm dry spells. After thunder a steady drizzle with wind veering to SW. & temperature dropping, followed by a fine cool night. Did not collect all day, but set insects & in late afternoon went for a walk & discovered the remains of a water-garden S. of ruins of Ballinacourty House.
