10.6.44, cont. Lyracappul & Corrignabinnia, LK, cont. 

Carex pilulifera gathered at about 2,600 on escarpment between Lyracappul & Corrignabinnia.

The following plants noted on bluffs along W. face of Lyracappul, ca. 2650 ft.:-

Sax. hirta & stellaris, Salix herbacea, Taraxacum, Oxalis, Cardamine hirsuta, Viola Riviniana, Lycopodium Selago, Campanula rotundifolia, Poa annua & Hymenophyllum peltatum:  also noted absence of Calluna from these cliffs.

Travelling E. along escarpment from Lyracappul to Corrignabinnia, we noted Sax. hirta & stellaris, Sedum roseum, Campanula, Viola Riviniana, Oxalis, Hymenophyllum peltatum, Cystopteris, Polypodium, Poa annua, Galium saxatile, Chrysosplenium, Euphrasia.

On Corrig itself Oxyria digyna, Salix herbacea, Cerastium triviale,

Saxifraga hirta, & Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea.

[Again noted that no trace of Saxifraga hypnoides seen on these cliffs, though common in valley bottom NW. of Corrig.]

Meconopsis in valley bottom N.W. of Corrig just in flower:  one plant with 3 flowers & two with one each.

Birds.
A couple of Ravens seen flying over upper cliffs above L. Curra several times & once alighted & cursed us for some minutes as we were starting up towards upper cliffs.

Two Hoodie Crows seen on W. escarpment later in day & also an odd Rook here & there on high ground, but not in parties as seen on other days.  Many mangled remains of Arion ater seen on this day as if eviscerated by one of the above birds.  (?is this what the young Rooks are fed on in the mountains.  A point which had puzzled us all week!)
