21.

27th Aug. 1944.

A bad day, after a couple of nice days: falling glass & S. wind.

Left home at 9.15 in spite of ominous signs, but got as far as Crooksling before meeting a wet mist, which had covered hills for an hour: dropped into heads of Slade of Saggart for shelter & collected where possible for an hour before the drip off trees wet everything: by this time blowing half a gale with rain from South, so had lunch & came home at 2 P.M. arriving about 2.45, to find no rain beyond Templeogue. Heavy rain in Dublin later in afternoon & evening!

Slade of Saggart, Co. DU.,

Collected by sweeping 11.30 till 12.30 under trees on level of old road (from Saggart to Brittas) on W. side of Slade at S. end of plantation only.

It would help in transcribing if there were a list we could refer to. 2. Try global names index at gni.globalnames.org where you can wild card search for parts of names @kdownunder.
