19th April 1945.

An almost perfect summer day with light NE breeze. Very hot sun all day & many insects flying everywhere up to 1200 ft. alt. Took our first day of the year's excursion! Rode to head of upper reservoir in Glenasmole, Co. DU., then walked up the Slade Brook to about 900 ft. & had lunch, after lunch worked up another mile (further than I usually go) & swept here and there amongst Vaccinium, &c., had afternoon tea at 4 P.M. & returned reaching home at 6 P.M.
