Co. Tipperary - Galtee Trip 1945.
24th May 1945.

The second very nice sunny day in succession after a month's very mixed weather.

Left Dublin by 10 AM train & arrived at Limerick Junct. at 1.30, where met by trap from Aherlow Hotel which took luggage.

We - Daisy, myself & Desmond Meikle - rode on bikes to remnant of a lake* - the big moraine about a mile N.W. of Tipperary town, now partially drained & being filled in by town refuse, dead horses, &c. Here did a little sweeping while Meikle looked for plants:- including Cladium mariscus, Carex rostrata, C. hirta, C. paniculata, C. teretiuscula, C. disticha, C. Goodenowii (? v. juncella) & C. paludosa, Ranunculus sceleratus & Veronica anagallis-aquatica (pink - flowers!).

24.5.45, evening.

After tea Meikle & I went for a strong S. along road from hotel & back through Ballinacourty estate. Along road saw a new station for Carex Pairaei & much C. divulsa, where everything closely grazed by horse in previous year!
