27th May 1945.

After a fine early morning & showery forenoon, fine at first in afternoon but a terrific jam formed over the plain from Tipperary towards Knocklong; this later moved over Glen of Aherlow & Galtees where it stayed & poured & poured off & on all evening. In forenoon spent a couple of hours in Ballinacourty Woods with Meikle & tried sweeping edge of ponds behind Castlereagh Ho., but after one sweep a shower ended collecting. After dinner rode to Ballygeary & ascended the boundary stream ST-LK where saw Mecanopsis [[Meconopsis]] cambrica (one flower seen) & Saxifraga hirta, very tufted form, & much Sax. hypnoides. On way up glen to above stopped to list plants on one area of natural pasture just E. of area covered by dotted Whitethorn bushes & here noted Habenaria bifolia, Gym. albiota, Botrychium lunaria & Ophioglossum vulgatum, with many common plants; alt. ca 900/1000 ft.
