101.

2nd June 1945.

A pleasanter day than last; but marred by heavy & frequent showers, especially in afternoon.

In forenoon spent an hour before a heavy shower collecting round the ponds behind the ruins of Castlereagh Lo., Ballinacourty, Aherlow, ST. In afternoon Meikle & I rode via Galbally to Glenacurrane, Co. LK., (3 miles N.W. of Mitchellstown!) where R. Ll. Praeger, a few years ago, discovered Euphorbia hiberna - we found this place had evidently been a beautiful glen, but is now largely destroyed by cutting of trees & scrub, quarry & the forestry dept. Here saw much Euphorbia on roadside but nothing else of interest & sweeping in bed of glen produced no Hymenoptera.

[28 mounted & these labelled on 6.2.1948!]
