129. 14th June 1945. After a wet night & misty rain in morning, a fairly fine day; much warmer, with clear sky & hot sun, but strong W. wind in Dublin. Left Aherlow hotel at 11:15 & reached Limerick Junction at 1 P.M. Had lunch on platform, went for a stroll, caught Cork-Dublin train, 3.5 ex LK. Junct. & so home at 7 P.M. END OF JUNE HOLIDAY 1945. 17th June 1945. A windy day, but warm & not so windy as the two previous days. Much hot sun in morning & till 2 P.M. then dull & cloudy with S.W. wind, but no rain. In afternoon rode to Grand Canal, W. of Clondalkin; Co. DU. & did a little collecting in two places. 1. Reed bed on S. edge of canal just above 3rd loch 1/2 mile W. of Clondalkin. 2. Edge of canal & parallel drain to S. 1/4 mile further W (above) station 1, at dairy farm gate 130. 17.6.45, cont. Grand Canal, Clondalkin, DU., cont. Insects taken at 1. [10 mounted from 1 & these labelled on 17.2.1948!] Hemiteles sp. 1 small ♂︎ not kept. Atractodes ♂︎, ant. 21; very slender sp. Orthocentrus cf. sannio? ♀︎, ant. 27. Bracon sp. ♂︎, ant. 38: Very near macrodactyla m. but tergite 3 striate at base; same as 2♂︎♂︎ taken here on (2) 14.7.1944! Apanteles cf. fulvipes ♀︎. Opius irregularis 3♀︎♀︎: not kept. Dacnusa areolaris group. 4♂︎♂︎, 2♀︎♀︎: not kept. D. aphanta ♂︎: not kept. D. uliginosa, 1 very beautiful ♀︎; ant. 23. Aphidius 1♂︎: not kept. Proctos. 2: both mtd. Chalcids. 3: 2 (♂︎ & ♀︎) mounted.
