A very fine day, with scarcely any wind till afternoon & then E. Later jam & rain about 9 P.M.

Spent 1 1/2 hours in Merrion Square, Dublin sweeping various places: mostly in S.E. corner or in open or SW corner of square — now much neglected.

Diptera very abundant, hymenoptera (especially Dacnusa & Aphidius) plentiful; a few moths (Micros. mostly!) frequent, but beetles & hemiptera very scarce. Shells seen Hygromia striolata & Helicella virgata. Aculeates seen = Bombus lucorum & B. agrorum (the latter on flowers of Comfrey!); Psithyrus distinclus ♂︎ & Megachile willoughbiella (1 fresh ♂︎ on post near S. gate).

Filled one sucker & some in a second, but passed dozens of what appeared to be Dacnusa areolaris group & hundreds of Aphididae. The following beetles swept & named by E. O'Mahony:—
