22nd July 1945.  

A warm, cloudy, very windy day, with skiffs of rain at times but no real showers.  Very threatening, after a bad day, with terrific thunder squall & torrents of rain at 5.15 P.M. on 21st. 

Did not go out till after lunch:  then rode to Whitehall House, via The Green Hills, between Tallaght & Clondalkin.  Swept for half-an-hour in shelter of hedge along W. side of grazing field on E. side of road from Whitehall Ho. to Tallaght-Clondalkin road.

Many small insects out & the following swept:-

P.? pumilio var. red legs, 1 large, 1 small, ♂︎♂︎, ant. 23 & 27;  ant. much longer.

O. maculipes  ♀︎, ant. 18, head widened;  also a minute ♀︎ ? this sp., ant. 16, head not widened.
Aspilota spp. 27, incuding - only 5 mtd. & 3 Synaldis!

A. pulvinata  ♂︎, ant. 19.
A. sp.  ♀︎, ant. 19, long narrow 2nd cubital cell, shorter antennae than next
A. umbricornis?  ♀︎, ant. 20, much broader 2nd cubital cell.
A. rubripes  2 small ♂︎♂︎, ant. both 17, the smaller with head scarcely widened!
A. (Synaldis) parvicornis  8 (♂︎♂︎ & 1♀︎) & also ♂︎ & ♀︎ near this but very small (ca. 1mm. long) & with large head (? same species):  3 mtd. as follows:
