171. 22nd July 1945. A warm, cloudy, very windy day, with skiffs of rain at times but no real showers. Very threatening, after a bad day, with terrific thunder squall & torrents of rain at 5.15 P.M. on 21st. Did not go out till after lunch: then rode to Whitehall House, via The Green Hills, between Tallaght & Clondalkin. Swept for half-an-hour in shelter of hedge along W. side of grazing field on E. side of road from Whitehall Ho. to Tallaght-Clondalkin road.
