29th July 1945. 

After a wet morning & two rather cool days, very warm, humid, with considerable very hot sun in afternoon.

In afternoon rode via Drimnagh to Grand Canal at Killeen & then along canal (W.) to Clondalkin & home.  Collected in four places & filled 3 suckers & a few insects in a 4th, as follows:-

1 = Canal side just above Killeen lock on south side of canal.  2.30-3 P.M.
2 = Edge of stream parallel to canal (overflow) on N. side of canal at same place.  3.0-4.0 P.M.
3 = W. side of field, with ditch, in triangle between land from Clondalkin & canal 1 1/4 miles west of Killeen = Grand Canal  4.0-4.45 P.M.
4 = W. side of same field & part of same in turnips; chiefly off the turnips & seeds with same.  4.45-5.15 PM.

Hygroplitis russatus  ♂︎, abdomen almost black!
Opius tacitus?  ♀︎, ant. 25, (also a male damaged & not kept)
Pentapleura angustula  ♀︎:  not mtd.
Dacnusa areolaris  5:  not mtd.
D. longiradialis  2♂︎♂︎, 2♀︎♀︎:  ant. both 21.
D. (Gyrocampa) affinis 5:  1♀︎ mtd., ant. 22.
D. (G.) uliginosa 23:  2♂︎♂︎ mtd., ant. 26 & 27, the latter with somewhat granulate mesonotum grading toward glabriuscula miki!  AWS. 3.12.1948.  Also 1♀︎, ant. 23, with mesonotum somewhat like 2nd ♂︎.
Aphidius spp. very common:  1♀︎ mtd. cf. A. exiguus! ant. 14
