Entirely dull, very mild, with only a gentle SW draught; after much damp weather & much drizzling rain, with no drying & barometer very high & still rising; but quite sunless and so far nearly a week. In afternoon rode to Grand Canal at Killeen & rode westwards till lane by Camac River met; here in [[image]] field swept along base of Δ for nearly an hour (where collected on previous dates 29.7.45 & 1.8.45) as well as a few insects amongst turnips & along drain parallel to canal. [60 mounted & these labelled 22.1.1949!] Field by & S. of Grand Canal, W. of Killeen, Co. DU. Ichneumon sp. ♀︎, ant. 29; small species, with incrassate antennae. Cryptinids 12 - 4 mtd.! Hemiteles apertus? ♀︎ & 4 or 5 other: not mtd. Hemiteles areator ♀︎, ant. 22. Phygadeuon? sp.? ♂︎, ant. 22 Exolytus, Atractoes tenebricosus ♀︎: not mtd. Exolytus sp. ♂︎, ant. 25 Dyspetes praerogator ♀︎: not mtd. Promethes cognatus v. albicoxa ♂︎: not mtd. P. lativentris √ ♀︎, ant. 21. Homocidus pulcher? ♀︎: not mtd. Stenomacrus spp. 6♂︎♂︎, 2♀︎♀︎, of which 3♂︎♂︎ & 1♀︎ mtd. = 1♂︎, ant. 24 has areolet & elongate tergite 1 ? = Picrostigeus debilis St. affinis? 1♀︎ ant. 22 & possibly 1♂︎ ant. 24 St. sp.? ♂︎, yellow face, ant. 23 & curiously "pinched" hind coxae! 256. 30.9.45, cont. W. of Killeen, Co. DU. cont. Campoplegids 6: 2 mounted = Gen. et sp.? ♂︎, ant. 31, fresh neuration! - double 1st abscissa of radius & irregular areolet in right wing. Cymodusa leucocera? ♂︎, ant. 36; no areolet in wing!! Mesochorus sp. 2♀︎♀︎, red thorax: not mtd. Plectiscid ♂︎ sp. not mtd. Perilitus sp. ♂︎ - minute, blackish, ant. only 19! [No Braconids before this!] Blacus spp. in great abundance. B. ruficornis ♂︎♂︎ abundant, ♀︎♀︎ frequent } none mtd. The ♂︎♂︎ flying round Salix viminalis! B. diversicornis 2♀︎♀︎, ant. both 20. B. humilis group. 7♂︎♂︎ & 5♀︎♀︎, which can be sorted into 5 "forms", the ♂︎♂︎ can be referred to forms 1, 2 & 3, while the ♀︎♀︎ represent forms 2, 3, 4 & 5 - 5 being what I call exilis. The characters on which these are divided by me are antennae; relative length of 1st & 2nd discoidal areolets; shape of head; size & shape of eyes; radial cell & radius, sternauli. Centistes lucidator 1♂︎, ant. 24. Opius irregularis 4♀︎♀︎: not mtd. O. cingulator 1 small ♂︎: not mtd. O. caesus ♂︎, immature, ant. 24. O. levis? ♂︎, ant. 23; smaller ♂︎, ant. 21.
