1946.

2nd January 1946. After a frosty night, a lovely clear sunny day till 4 P.M., then cloudy. In afternoon rode on bikes to Whitehall House, via The Green Hills; round old airodrome to near Jobstown & home via Tallaght. Much ivy still in flower, though it started flowering at end of August, but no sign of wasps seen, in spite of fact that there was hot sun & shelter & much ivy blossom where a flourishing nest was seen in November on road above old aerodrome, W. of Belgard Castle.

First Snowdrop under drawing room window practically out for last fair days but not actually open and no sun fell on it today: nevertheless I consider it "out". On 30th Dec. a large clump of Snowdrop out in front garden of house in Butterfield Lane, near Templeogue Bridge end - the usual garden where we always see them first. Crocuses & Hyacinths well up in front garden but no flower actually showing.
