122. 9th Oct 1946. A fine sunny morning & forenoon, with very strong E-NE keen wind; afternoon entirely dull with lowering clouds - almost like snow clouds! - & wind stronger than ever. In afternoon drove via Kilbride, Ballyward & Blessington to Glending before we got any shelter: in Glending absolute shelter & many insects on Wicklow side in remains of old wood (now plantation!) on ash, oak, &c., but none taken on new conifers: filled one sucker here 3.30 to 4.30, but midges very troublesome, so retired to marsh at NW end of the overflow channel, in Co. KD., & swept flooded edge of pond & drain under hedge W. of pond, 4.30-5 PM. 1 = Wood on Wicklow side of Glending 2 = Marsh, drain & field in Kildare side of Glending overflow channel 2 miles NW of Blessington [26 mounted from 1 & these labelled 30.1.1950.] 9.10.46 (1).
