3rd August 1947. 

A very fine day with much very hot sun & gentle SE-S breeze, after two days with thunder & heavy rain at times.  Many hymnenoptera out, but flies not troublesome & only a few cleggs seen. 

Did not go out in forenoon, but after lunch left home at 2 P.M. on bikes & rode to Gollierstown on Grand Canal & collected till 7 P.M. in three areas as follows:-

18. 1 = S. side of canal just W. of Gollierstown Bridge & N. corner of small (1st) quarry hole S. & W. of
bridge & separated from canal by high hillock.

18. 2 = W & N. sides & E. end of 3rd quarry hole (beyond wire fence) & S. of canal, 1/8 mile W. of bridge.

13. 3 = Mainly around quarry hole N. of wall on N. side of canal & nearly 1/8 mile W. of bridge - nearly opposite 3, but not quite

Stenomacrus minutos?  ♀︎, ant. 17., small smoky wings, exserted terebra.
